Jan Blake & Luke Daniels presented an evening of humorous and musically animated performances of Afro-Caribbean stories and Celtic songs revealing the rich and shared history of these two cultures. Stories included The Irishman who Cheated Death in Tobago, anonymous songs of immigration sent home on the back of postcards, and Why Woman holds the Key to the Next Generation.
Jan is a published author and one of Europe’s leading storytellers specialising in stories from Africa and the Caribbean. Luke is a folk singer, guitarist and meoldeon player as well as a previous BBC Young Tradition Award Winner.
People of all ages enjoyed vocals, guitar, tinwhistle and melodeon in a warm friendly atmosphere that included audience participation and a crash course entitled Learn tinwhistle in three and a half minutes.
This was a great night out for all the family!
